Waubs Bay Gallery opened in November 2014 with the vision to create a unique interactive space to exhibit the exceptional diversity of our local East Coast, Tasmanian and Interstate Artists.
The gallery evolved into a space that strongly showcases wildlife and coastal themes and Artisans from Tasmania and Interstate.
It was also the working studio of Wildlife Artist Vanessa Richardson.
However the gallery permanently closed its doors on the 16th November 2019.
Gallery Owner/Resident Artist:
Award winning wildlife artist Vanessa Richardson lives in Bicheno with her 2 young daughters. With a tour guiding background, Vanessa made the transition to devoting her time to her Art career following the birth of her first child.
“Guiding has provided the perfect platform to interact and engage with Tasmania’s diverse environment and I have been lucky enough to have experienced some very unique wildlife encounters. Understanding the environment I am surrounded by is an ongoing journey. I live in one of the best natural wildlife sanctuaries in the world”
In November 2019, Vanessa made the difficult decision to close Waubs Bay Gallery to work from her home based studio and balance more family time with her daughters Mikayla and Jessie.
Since the gallery closure, Vanessa has been working on several commission pieces and working on a large body of work featuring Tasmania’s Raptor Species. She hopes to exhibit this collection in the near future.
